Connect AI to Your Data (MCP 101)
Table of Contents
This guide covers connecting an AI assistant to the Syncro MCP Server, installing the Syncro Claude Plugin, and trying prompts and tools from the Syncro MCP library, so you can work with live Syncro ticket, billing, customer, and asset data directly from the AI assistant you already use.
Step 1: Meet the Syncro MCP Server
The Syncro MCP Server connects AI assistants like Claude, ChatGPT, and Copilot directly to your live Syncro PSA and RMM data, so you can ask about tickets, invoices, Organizations, and assets in plain language instead of navigating the UI. Before you connect, confirm you have a Syncro account and an AI assistant that supports MCP servers.
Read the Prerequisites and Overview sections of Connect the Syncro MCP Server.
Step 2: Connect Your AI Assistant
The Syncro MCP Server gives your AI assistant conversational access to live ticket, invoice, Organization, and asset data, so you can ask it to prioritize your open, overdue, and flagged tickets before a site visit, catch closed tickets with unbilled work, or pull an Organization's ticket and invoice history ahead of a QBR.
You can connect Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot Studio, and Cursor via OAuth, or use a generic API key method for other MCP-compatible tools.
Follow the connection steps for your AI assistant in Connect the Syncro MCP Server, then confirm the connection succeeded. If the connection fails or tools don't appear, check Troubleshoot MCP Connections. (Bonus: If you use Claude, you can paste a setup request directly into the chat and let it walk you through the connection.)
Step 3: Install the Syncro Claude Plugin
If you're using Claude, install the Syncro Claude Plugin and stop re-teaching it your workflow every session. It packs Syncro's own conventions into ready-to-run skills, so the same job gets the same reliable result, whether it's you asking or a teammate.
For example, before heading to a client site, a technician can ask Claude to review every open ticket for that customer, including ones owned by other techs, and flag which ones actually need someone on hand versus which can wait for a remote fix.
Install the Syncro Claude Plugin, then try Prep for Onsite Visits against one of your customers, or Ticket Research Assistant against one of your own tickets.
Step 4: Try the Prompt Library
The Syncro MCP Prompt Library has ready-to-run prompts for tasks you already do daily or weekly, like tech queue triage, SLA breach review, and quarterly business review prep.
Try three prompts from the Syncro MCP Prompt Library that fit your role, such as Tech Queue Triage, SLA Breach Review, or Unbilled Time/WIP Review.
Step 5: Try the Tools Reference
The Syncro MCP Tools Reference lists every tool available in the Syncro MCP server, grouped by area like Tickets, Invoices, Assets, and Customer Organizations.
Try three tools from the Syncro MCP Tools Reference, such as list_tickets, create_appointment, or search.
