The Task Manager gives Syncro Users with appropriate security permissions visibility into all manually-initiated backups and restores.

It details each task's type, creation time, and who initiated it as well as tracks the task's current status, due date (if applicable), completion time, and any pending actions.

The primary function of the Task Manager is to allow you to monitor the progress of backups and restores and review any associated errors. For a comprehensive overview, the Task Manager should be used in conjunction with the Audit Log, which tracks all user-based actions.

Navigate to the Task Manager

Follow these steps to view events in the Task Manager:

  1. Navigate to any Syncro Tenant's Details Page.
  2. In the Cloud Backup section, click Manage, then select Task Manager.
Note: If you're already in the Backup Portal, you can access the Task Manager from the User Profile menu in the upper right.
Events display in chronological order with the newest shown first.

Note: Entries cannot be deleted from the Task Manager, nor can entries be added manually.

Filter Task Manager Data

Use the dropdown menus to filter the events based on:

  • Status: Options include Pending, In Progress, Completed, Failed, and Cancelled.
  • Created: Options include Last Week, Last Month, Last Year, or select a Custom date range to select a Range using a calendar.

Tips:

  • Click the slanted triple line () icon to clear the filters. Click the refresh () icon to refresh the Task Manager for new entries.
  • If there is feedback related to a task, a warning icon appears in the Actions column. Click it to view more information. For Completed and Partially Completed restores, a details icon also appears in the Actions column. Click it to open the Task Details.

About Task Details

For Completed and Partially Completed restore tasks, the Task Details window provides a direct link to the restored content in Microsoft 365.

To open the Task Details window, locate the restore task in the Task Manager and click the details icon in the Actions column. The window displays a link labeled “Open restored content: [name]” where [name] is the name of the restore task. For example: “Open restored content: OneDrive Restore:”

The link opens the closest common parent of the restored content: a site restore opens the site, a list opens the list, a folder opens the folder, and a single-item restore opens the item. The link does not appear for Failed restores.

Task Manager Entry Examples

Here are some example entries for the Task Manager:

Teams Restore that Failed: This example shows a Failed Teams Restore with the warning icon in the Actions column:

Here's the error message that prevented the Restore from completing successfully:

Mail Restore that Completed: This example shows a successful restore for mail, with a timestamp for the start and completion:
