Autotask Importer
Table of Contents
The Autotask Importer will bring over your data from Autotask to Syncro as historical data, and you will be able to view that information in your Syncro account.
The Autotask Importer tool will import the following:
- Customers: (Accounts) Business Name, Notes (bill to info), Address, Phone
- Sub Contacts: Name, Email, Phone, Address, Title
- Tickets: Number, Subject, Created Date
- Ticket Notes: Description, Title, Date, Creator
IMPORTANT:
- This tool is designed to be run on brand new accounts with little data that are starting from scratch. The Autotask Importer attempts to exact match on company name, and if no match is found, it will create duplicates. If you already have a customer database set up in Syncro, you should NOT run this tool.
- If you encounter difficulty using the Autotask Importer, there are alternatives. For Customers, see Import or Export Existing Customers. For Assets, Tickets, and Invoices, please contact Support.
Prerequisites
- You will need to enter in your Autotask credentials to import your data. Syncro does not store these credentials; they're only used for the import and will need to be entered on each import attempt.
- Be sure to turn off Customer required fields.
Import Your Data
To import your historical data from Autotask, follow these steps:
- Navigate to Admin > RMM Settings - Migration Tools.
- Click the Autotask tile.
- Enter your Autotask Username and Autotask Password into the fields.
Note: If you don't see the Username/Password fields, your Syncro account likely has enough data that this importer may create duplicates. Please contact Support for assistance. - Enter the API Tracking ID. See Autotask: Ticketing and Asset Tracking Integration for more information.
- Optionally, check the box to "Include Inactive Customers."
- Click Import Now.
- To view the results of the import, navigate to Reports, then click View Import Results.
About the Datto RMM Mass Deploy Script
If you use Autotask with Datto RMM, a script can install the Syncro Agent on your devices. Each device automatically lands as an asset under the correct customer Organization.
Steps
- In Datto RMM, export your devices to CSV. Make sure the export includes these two columns:
- Site Name: the Datto site each device belongs to. The importer needs the Site Name to match assets to customer Organizations.
- GUID: the device’s unique ID. The script uses it to identify each machine.
- If your export does NOT have a Site Name column, manually add it to the CSV and fill in each device’s site before you upload. Other columns, such as hostname, OS or last user, can stay in the file; the importer doesn’t need them. For example:
Device Hostname,Site Name,GUID
NWD-FRONTDESK01,Northwind Dental,3f2a9c1e-7b4d-4e8a-9c21-5d6e7f8a9b01
FCL-DC01,Fabrikam CPA Group,7f6e5d4c-3b2a-4f1e-9d0c-8b7a6f5e4d07 - In Syncro, navigate to Admin > RMM - Migration Tools. Then select the Autotask tile to open the Autotask Importer page and upload the CSV file:
- On the Fix Mappings screen, use the search boxes on the right to map each Datto site name on the left to a Syncro customer Organization. A site may appear once for each device in it, so check that every row is mapped.
- Click Get Script. Syncro generates a PowerShell script you can deploy to every device, for example as a Datto RMM component.
- Run the PowerShell script on your machines. On each device, the script downloads the map file, reads that device’s GUID from the registry, and silently installs the Syncro agent for the correct customer Organization.
Tip: If assets land under the wrong customer Organization, or don’t show up on the Fix Mappings screen, check your CSV first. It needs a Site Name column with a value in every row.
